El Gouna is proud to have been recognised as Egypt’s most environmentally-friendly resort, and offers beautiful natural sands and year-round sunshine, as well as numerous attractive sea canals dividing the streets.
This purpose-built, self-contained holiday town provides boutique shopping and wonderful restaurants, as well as an 18-hole golf course and an attractive marina.
Also wonderful for its beach is the peaceful, calm and luxurious town of nearby Makadi Bay, which is perfect for beach-lazing and gazing in awe at the desert that surrounds the resort. While the resort itself is disabled- friendly and accessible, if visitors wish to see further afield they will have to use a water taxi, which is likely to involve a certain amount of "man-handling" in order to get full-time wheelchair users on and off the boat.
